Prisoner at Bay đŸ˜„

There I sat... [ Looking up sadly ]

Sending my dreams through the moon

Making more wishes with the stars

Bringing regrets...

...of the lonely days

Unto the rising sun

My mind though red

Like smelt iron

Sore as a festering wound

At the shackles on my feet

Yet, never wane a moment

think... think... conclude...!!!

Never, Never, Never !!!

Will the ceaseless flow for change

Stop running in my vein

My dreams will be better

My vision will come to pass

I wrote this poem in my third year as an undergraduate in 2013 ( Wow, 11 Years ago). The message is simple: Never stop Dreaming.

A lot of battles are fought in our hearts, minds, and imaginations, and with time, we become a reflection of the results.

In 2013, I was going through a lot. I do not want to bore you with the details but the summary was that my reality was far from my dreams. I got home one late evening, and instead of going inside, I stood outside and stared at the sky. I spent hours reflecting on the dreams I had and how far I was from them. What was I going to do?

If a man commits suicide, there is a 90% chance he spent at least a few weeks thinking about it.

If a man would be great as well, there is a 90% chance, he spent at least some time thinking about it. : Dreaming

Dreams are powerful.

They provide valuable insight into our deepest desires, hopes, and fears.

They put you temporarily in that state that you have not yet achieved.

You get a taste of what it would feel like to have accomplished that goal.

Dreams help us understand and process our emotions.

They keep us going.

They keep us fighting.

But what happens when it looks as if they are not coming through? We become scared and become prisoners at bay.

A prisoner at bay is somehow who is beginning to doubt their dreams.

The reality is far from the dream, and that is the truth.

We have all been there. I mean spending hours reflecting on the ups and downs life throws at us.

The question is, how do we end those thoughts and reflections?

Do we continue to be prisoners, or do we free ourselves and continue to dream?

In Genesis 15, the Lord brought Abram outside his tent into the night and said,

" Look now toward the heavens and count the stars—if you are able to count them.” Then He said to him, “So [numerous] shall your descendants be."

Abraham never lived to see this dream come through, but he nursed it till he died. Hebrews revealed that Abraham died believing in this dream, and you can see it play out in the major steps he took in life.

Dreams are free, and I am happy with the conclusions that I came up with that night after my reflections.

Never, Never, Never !!!

Will the ceaseless flow for change

Stop running in my veins.

Keep looking into the future. Because you will see me there 😅
